Rainfall has a dramatic effect on water levels in a karst aquifer like Kinney County’s, visible here on Jason Long’s monitoring dashboard for the fort well and the Las Moras springhead. Within a day - even hours - of a good rain in the recharge zone in the northern part of the county, the aquifer responded by leaping up. Both the spring and the well level leveled off after a short while. Source: Kinney County Groundwater Conservation District
